WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND
Whistle Down the Wind is set in 1959 Louisiana, where innocence and fear collide in a small Southern town. Fifteen‑year‑old Swallow, still grieving her mother, discovers a wounded fugitive hiding in a barn. When she asks who he is, his first words “Jesus Christ” lead her to believe her prayers have been answered. She and the local children vow to protect him from the suspicious adults determined to hunt him down. As the town’s prejudice intensifies, Swallow clings to faith while struggling to understand the truth. The story becomes a moving battle between childhood belief, harsh reality, and the longing for hope.
