CALLING CAST MEMBERS FOR GEORGE’S MARVELLOUS MEDICINE

Roald Dahl’s classic George’s Marvellous Medicine is holding casting auditions on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September 2021 from 10:00 – 12:00

Anyone who is interested in trying out for a role within EVOKE’s Theatre of Family Entertainment production is invited to come along to the Forest Douzaine Room (opposite the Co-op Locale along the Forest Road just past the airport).

There are four wonderfully funny characters on offer and below highlights who they are:

George
The main character. This role may be shared by two young boys aged between 11-16. Kind, thoughtful and disliking of his grandmother, George is left at home one Saturday morning by his mother in order to give Grandma her medicine at eleven o’clock. George decides to brew a medicine that will make Grandma a better person, however, things don’t quite go according to plan.

The character of George is a brilliant opportunity for any budding young actor to take on. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

Mr Kranky
George’s Dad. A hard working farmer who never misses an opportunity to dabble in entrepreneurial adventures. Could George’s medicine be a way of investing in a more secure financial future for his family and the farm? He has plans.

Mrs Kranky
George’s mum who is a warm hearted sole with a strong loyalty to her family. She is fun loving and joins in with George’s escapades wholeheartedly.

Grandma
A gem of a role and can be performed by either a male or female actor. She is a grizzly old grunion who is selfish, grumpy and a miserable old grouch. A key pin to the success of George’s plans.

If you would like to come along and try-out, it is important to register your interest and therefore please email Chris Bougourd at c.bougourd@cwgsy.net to reserve your place. The open try-out will be a fun based workshop and attendees will not be required to perform any singing. Full details will be provided upon registration.

EVOKE is seeking to cast individuals who are able to engage with an audience. We are not looking to cast experienced trained Shakespearean actors, but instead, actors who are willing to work together as part of a strong cohesive team and enjoy reveling about on stage having great fun entertaining the young at heart.

EVOKE will present this clever play at Beau Sejour Theatre. The production runs from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 November 2021 with six performances scheduled during the weekend.

Miss it and you could miss out in taking part within a story that is enchanting and offers ‘marvellous’ character portrayals and an enriched theatrical experience that EVOKE is proud to present in conjunction with our sole sponsor, Specsavers.
