EVOKE’S JUNE THEATRE OF COMEDY IS IN THE SAFE HANDS OF RAY COONEY

Caught in the Net – The Sequel to Run For Your Wife

The sequel to the highly successful London West End smash hit, Run For Your Wife finds our bigamist taxi-driver, John Smith, still keeping both his families – one in Wimbledon and one in Streatham – happy and blissfully unaware of each other.

However, his teenage children – one girl and one boy by each wife – have met on the Internet and are determined to see each other in person, especially as it transpires that they have so much in common – same surname, taxi-driver dad of the same age, etc.!

When it dawns on John that they are about to meet, he plunges into a hell-hole of his own making in order to keep them apart.

His saviour could be Stanley, his lodger. Stanley is about to go on holiday with his decrepit old mother, who turns up thinking she is already at the guest house. The ever-spiralling situation gets increasingly out-of-hand as John busts a gut to juggle with the truth.

“Imagine Watergate, suburban-style … if you tell one lie in order to cover up a mischief you’re forced to tell more and more until you’ve constructed a bizarre mirage whose one virtue is a lunatic consistency” ~ The Times

“…fanciful and brilliant, this is the funniest play of the year…” ~ Daily Mail

“Cooney gives you a masterclass in the art of farce… the perfectly potty plot is a precision-built laughter machine.” ~ What’s On

The show opens on Tuesday, 13 June and runs to Friday, 16 June with four evening performances. Curtain-up is at 7.30pm.

A dream team of talented experienced actors to portray the various characters has been assembled, and EVOKE is very enthused to capitalise on its high professional reputation as a ‘Theatre of Comedy’ company and proud to present in conjunction with sole sponsor, Specsavers.
