Marilyn Pugh Musical Director
EVOKE’s resident musical director is certainly no stranger to the local music scene and has established a highly respected reputation for musical excellence.
Five years ago, Marilyn retired from her post as Head of Music at the Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form having enjoyed the challenges of running such a vibrant and very successful department for 13 years.
She is an accomplished pianist and is well known in Guernsey for her work as a soloist and accompanist, in particular at the local Eisteddfod and for supporting local charities.
Marilyn enjoys singing and conducting. She is a founder member of the Guernsey Chamber Choir and was also the conductor of the Guernsey Glee Singers, for sixteen years from 1992 to 2007. As their longest serving conductor she was proud to accept in 2016, an invitation to be a Vice-Patron of the choir.
Marilyn is the musical director of the highly regarded choir, The Accidentals, which she founded in October 2013. At the same time Marilyn set up the Alderney Voices Community Choir and she considers it well worth the effort to travel to the northern isle every week to run the rehearsals.
In her spare time Marilyn enjoys spending time with her family here and in the UK and also plays golf at La Grande Mare.
